Carrasquillo Associates, LTD. is deeply saddened to announce the sudden and unexpected death of its
founder and president, Ramón L. Carrasquillo, Ph.D., P.E. Please join CA in extending heartfelt condolences to
Ramón’s family during this difficult time of mourning.
Ramón was a tireless concrete educator, researcher, producer, and consultant for 45 years. His expertise
in concrete was known and regarded worldwide as evidenced by the many honors bestowed on him by
the American Concrete Institute (ACI), which included the following, Honorary Member and Fellow,
Former Board of Director, Education Award Recipient, Robert E. Philleo Award Recipient, and Henry C.
Turner Medal Recipient. In addition, Ramón was recognized by the Puerto Rico Academy of Engineering
and the Pan-American Engineering Academy.
Beyond his extensive technical accomplishments and contributions to the concrete industry through
research and consulting, Ramón personally impacted many hundreds of individuals through jovial and
generous mentorship spanning multiple continents. For example, over 35 years ago, Ramón, in
conjunction with the Puerto Rico Concrete Association, established a scholarship fund to help
economically disadvantaged students pursue engineering degrees. Countless engineers, material
scientists, academians, and others in the field can attest to Ramón’s generous heart and exceptional
ability to convey knowledge, wisdom, and guidance in his teaching. Though he will be deeply missed,
Ramón will forever be remembered, and his legacy will live on.
